Getting there overview
Folegandros has no airport — and that is part of its magic. Every guest arrives by sea, which sets the tone for a slower, more intentional celebration. The main port is Karavostasis; Chora (the cliff-top village) is a ten-minute taxi or bus ride away. Most wedding weekends span three to four days, giving guests time to settle in before the ceremony.

Ferry from Athens
The most direct route is the ferry from Piraeus port in Athens. Fast ferries (Sea Jets, Golden Star) take roughly 4–5 hours; conventional ferries (Blue Star, Aegean Sea Lines) take 7–9 hours but offer cabins and deck space — ideal for guests who treat the crossing as part of the adventure.
Book early for summer Saturdays. We recommend arriving at least two days before the wedding so delayed ferries or rough seas never threaten your timeline. Piraeus is 45 minutes from Athens International Airport by taxi or X96 bus; allow extra time during peak season.
From Santorini & Milos
Many international guests fly into Santorini (JTR) and ferry to Folegandros — the crossing takes 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the vessel. This is our most popular guest route: direct flights from major European hubs, a short scenic ferry, and arrival in Karavostasis by afternoon.
Milos (MLO) is another excellent gateway, especially for guests already island-hopping. The Milos–Folegandros ferry runs 1–2 hours and connects well with flights from Athens. Some couples host a welcome dinner in Milos the night before and ferry over together — a beautiful pre-wedding ritual.

Flight tips
There are no flights to Folegandros itself. Closest airports: Santorini (JTR), Milos (MLO) and Athens (ATH). For North American guests, Athens with an overnight and morning ferry works well. Europeans often fly direct to Santorini in season.
We advise booking flexible ferry tickets where possible and keeping wedding-day events off the same day as arrival. A buffer day transforms stressed travellers into relaxed guests.
